Cornwall voted best UK holiday location

At the Annual British Travel Awards on Thursday 5th November 2009, Cornwall won the best UK Holiday Location beating London into 2nd Place. Cornwall took the title from last years winners the Lake District.

Voted for by the public, more than 20% of the votes cast  went to Cornwall. Steve Kessell of the official tourist board for Cornwall collected the award and said "This is a fantastic award for Cornwall. Not only does it recognise the hard work of the industry but it also shines the national spotlight on Cornwall".

“The fact that it is based on public opinion makes it even more significant as it comes from those people that count, those that vote with their feet.”
